The 6th International Symposium on Service Innovation, titled "Globalized Creative Industry and Emergence of Asian Producers", was held on 29th November 2013
at the Shiran Kaikan Hall of the Kyoto University Medical School.

After the opening speech by Professor Yoshihiro Tokuga, Dean of the Graduate School of Management, Kyoto University, Professor Robert DeFillippi, Suffolk University, United States, provided the keynote speech about the frontiers of research on the contemporary changes in the creative and content industries and on the new leadership style of producers. He went on defining the roles of global producers and the requirements for training future producers in a digital age. Then, in the first part of the symposium, three presentations followed on the different management styles of producers in Asian creative industries by Professor Dongyoub Shin, School of Business, Yonsei University, Korea, Dr. Hsiao-Ling Chung, National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan, and Professor Jin'ichiro Yamada, Osaka City University, Japan. The transformation of Asian creative industries, new emerging international leaderships and these business implications were debated in an animated panel discussion session.
In the second session, Dr. Yutaka Yamauchi, Dr. Satoko Suzuki and Dr. Ken'ichi Takemura in the GSM, Kyoto University introduced the latest research results in service research projects, dealing with service design and globalization of services.
In the third session, Mr. Uchida Kenji, CEO of Sunrise Inc., Mr. Hiroki Kutsuna, CEO of E-Design, and Mr.Daisuke Tsutsumi, Art Director, PIXAR Animation Studios, who are famous business leaders in Japanese creative industries, showed business realities of Japanese producers in animation business and urban design, considering at the differences in roles of American and Japanese producers This session was concluded with concluding remarks by Professor Shinichi Hirose and Hiroyuki Hara, GSM, Kyoto University.
The symposium was attended by more than 160 participants both from industry and academia. Participants enjoyed and praised the discussion based on research concerning Asian producers in this symposium and held great expectations for the continuous efforts at the Graduate School of Management, Kyoto University.
