The Reason Why You Chose GSM

Tomomi Sasaki

GSM is the ideal place for me to study the mechanisms of service.
I have previously worked as tour planner and quality management at a travel agency, as well as in trade management at an international logistics company. In the service industry, the service performance directly affects customer satisfaction and sales. While individuals are required to have advanced knowledge and skills, the evaluation criteria for these performances are often ambiguous. Additionally, I have witnessed many workplaces falling into a negative spiral, with declining value due to price competition and employee exhaustion. To address these issues, I realized the importance of understanding the concept of service and being able to logically explain it. This led me to learn about GSM, which conducts research on service from various perspectives, and I decided to pursue further education there.

What is the attractiveness of GSM?

Tomomi Sasaki

You can expand your possibilities endlessly at GSM, depending on your intention.
After resigning from my job to pursue this opportunity, I decided to fully embrace it by exploring a variety of experiences. To mention just a part, courses in other faculties, support for international students, participation in the Kyoto American University Consortium, inbound-related part-time jobs, fieldwork.
I also took advantage of GSM's exchange program and am currently studying at a graduate school in Lyon, France.
Among my peers, some have started their own businesses or furthered their research. This is all possible thanks to the wide range of opportunities at GSM—its programs, the environment in Kyoto, and the connections with diverse peers and professors.

The Visions of Your Future

My hope is that, by combining my professional experience and the knowledge gained at GSM, I can contribute to creating systems and businesses that appropriately evaluate valuable products and services.
