This article is solicitated by the editorial board of the International Journal of Industrial Organization, one of the well-known international academic journals in the field sponsored by EARIE, as a commentary for the general public on his academic paper “A Sufficient-Statistics Approach for Welfare Analysis of Oligopolistic Third-Degree Price Discrimination” published in that journal in January 2023.
