- 【Background】
- Graduated from the London School of Economics and Political Science in 1990 for BSc (Accounting and Finance), then 1991 for MSc (Analysis Design and Management of Information Systems), and then 1995 for PhD “Accountants in Organizational Networks”. Went on to become full Professor at the University of Oxford, Imperial College London, Copenhagen Business School, and University of Bristol. His research has looked at the ways in which people work to make accounting relevant to operational decision making in a variety of contexts including the clothing and textiles industry, restaurants and professional service firms. His current research focuses on three main areas: cost systems for healthcare providers; management control and big data analytics; links between accounting for sustainability and management accounting.

- Accounting offers many powerful tools, techniques and ways of thinking about pressing problems, both within organisations and in society more generally. Depending upon context the balance between accounting as a source of clear answers and accounting as a way to learn about what good questions might look like can be very different. Given its versatility we find accounting plays a role in very many places. Let’s explore in what ways it can be most helpful where.
