- 【Background】
- Received a Master's degree in Civil Engineering from the Graduate School of Engineering, Kyoto University in March 1990. Joined the Ministry of Construction in April 1990, and after serving as Director, Research and Planning Division, Disaster Management Bureau, Cabinet Office, Assistant Vice-Minister for Engineering Affairs, Minister’s Secretariat and Director-General, Kanto Regional Development Bureau of MLIT, became Director-General of the Water and Disaster Management Bureau of MLIT in July 2023.

- River basin management is required to contribute to a number of challenges, such as carbon neutrality through the promotion of hydropower, the preservation of ecosystems and the use of riparian areas, as well as flood risk reduction and regional resilience. The lecture will be based on actual examples of river management.
