Professor Takanori Adachi has been awarded the 41st (FY2025) Telecommunications Advancement Foundation Award (Telecom Humanities and Social Sciences Prize) by the Telecommunications Advancement Foundation.

Established in fiscal year 1985, this prestigious award recognizes outstanding books and academic papers related to information and communication technology (ICT).

Professor Adachi received the award for his book “Markets and Competition in the 21st Century: Digital Economy, Platforms, and Imperfect Competition” (Keiso Shobo, June 2024). The book was praised as “a well-written work in an accessible style that boldly employs an original analytical framework to demonstrate how the emergence of dominant platform providers is compelling a radical transformation of competition policy” (from the selection committee’s comments).
