2010.11.02 ”The 6th International Conference on Multi-National Joint Ventures for Construction Works” International Symposium on Construction Management was Held

The 6th International Conference on Multinational Joint Ventures for Construction Works was held from September 22-23, 2010 at the Kyoto City International Foundation. The conference theme was “Towards New Paradigms of Partnership for the Increasingly Global Construction Markets”, with research presentations by the Graduate School of Management Dean, Professor Kiyoshi Kobayashi; Department of Engineering Professor Masamitsu Onishi; and GCOE Researcher Lei Shi. Many students participated in the conference in addition to attendees from abroad, including Professor Shouking Wang from Tsinghua University (China), Professor Abdul Rashid from the International Islamic University Malaysia (Malaysia) and approximately 20 others from Australia, Hong Kong, etc. The conference is coordinated once a year by Professor Kobayashi with various themes of international construction management such as joint ventures, construction contracts, bidding systems, etc. This year was the 6th year the conference was held. The conference offers a place for researchers from Malaysia and the greater East Asia, and countries in the west to create and develop research networks. The research presentations are also published as a journal. Next year’s conference is scheduled to be held in the fall at the Institut Teknologi Bandung in Indonesia and in the 2011 academic year, there will be a publication of joint research resulting from networks made through this conference.
