7th International Conference on Multi-National Joint Venture for Construction Works was held on 28-29th September 2011 at the Institute of Technology Bandung (ITB) in Indonesia. GSM was involved in the organizers with ITB and International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).
Prof Kiyoshi Kobayashi (Dean of GSM), Prof Gautam Ray and Prof Katsuji Ishihara from GSM as well as Assist Prof Masamitsu Onishi at Graduate School of Engineering attended it.
The conference attracted more than 100 attendants including scholars and students mainly from Indonesian and Malaysian universities. 36 papers were presented including the keynote speech delivered from the Deputy Minister of Coordination for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs. A key finding is that efficient and effective functioning of multi-national joint venture and public-private partnerships is increasingly getting important as players have to overcome various cultural differences in the globalized construction markets. The conference was concluded by stating that a conference next year will be held at National Hanbat University in Daejong, Korea in October to continue exploring the joint venture study.
