“Kyoto University and Tongji University Joint Seminar on Urban and Transport Management for Sustainable Society” was held on November 7th, 2011. A series of seminar is organized by Kyoto University and Tongji University every year, and it is held at Kyoto University this year.

The formation of sustainable society is a common issue which is shared among Asian megacities. It is a common public concern to establish proper management scheme for transportation and society. This seminar aims to share knowledge and experience about urban and transportation management and to discuss practical issues which Japanese and Chinese cities actually confront.

The twenty researchers and students from Tongji University, including Prof.Xiaoguang Yang and Prof. Dongyuan Yang, participated this seminar; and the seminar consisted of eleven presentations from Kyoto University side and twelve presentations from Tongji University side. Participants discussed not only the importance of urban and transportation management but also the actual issues Japanese and Chinese cities hold.

The seminar was closed with addressing the continuous and cooperative relationship between Kyoto University and Tongji University.
