【Background】

Professor. Matsumoto obtained his Ph.D. from Kobe Univ. and his MBA from Thunderbird on the US Fulbright program. He has more than 20 years of experience in investment banking at global institutions, including HSBC and Macquarie and advised 50 Japan related M&A transactions in 20 countries. His main research area is cross border M&A and its synergy generation. He received “Best Teacher Award” from Kyoto Univ. in 2020.

Japanese outbound acquisitions- Explaining what works (2018) London, Palgrave Macmillan, Integration and synergy generation in cross border acquisitions: a case study of business failure and success(2017) International Business Research Vol. 10 No 9, pp.122-140 Canadian Center of Science and Education. He received the 9th and 16th M&A Forum Award with his books about Japanese cross border M&A.

【Message】

I take hybrid approach (academic and practice) to teach class by using Japanese business cases.
I look forward to having students who are interested in corporate strategy and finance to my Business Analysis and Valuation course.
