The Reason Why You Chose GSM

Raden Agung Yuga Dwitama

Before enrolling in GSM, I worked at the largest telecommunications company in Indonesia for eight years. In 2021, I was promoted to a managerial role, which presented new challenges as it required a stronger focus on soft skills like team management, supervision, and communication, areas where I had less experience compared to my prior technical expertise. This transition motivated me to pursue an MBA program to enhance my leadership, management, and decision-making abilities while deepening my understanding of business strategies.
Among the available MBA programs, I chose Kyoto University because it offers a unique curriculum that aligns with my goals.

Additionally, Japan’s leadership in advanced technology, including the concept of Society 5.0, which emphasizes human-centric innovation, greatly attracted me. I am eager to experience this firsthand by living and studying in Japan.

What is the attractiveness of GSM?

First of all, Kyoto University is one of the best universities in Asia and the world. The program offers a wide range of customizable courses tailored to individual needs and interests, taught by experienced faculty members. GSM provides a constructive learning environment that encourages students to actively participate in discussions.

Furthermore, I have been fascinated by Japanese culture since childhood. Growing up watching Japanese anime and listening to Japanese music, I always dreamed of visiting Japan. In 2017, I finally fulfilled that dream by visiting 12 cities across Japan, from Sapporo to Hiroshima. While I enjoyed every city, I fell in love with Kyoto the most.

Studying and living in Kyoto, while experiencing all four seasons in Japan, is like living out my childhood dreams. The opportunity to immerse myself in the culture and environment of my favorite city is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

The Visions of Your Future

As a graduate in both computer science and business administration with extensive experience in the telecommunication industry, I plan to deepen my understanding of the Internet of Things (IoT) and Society 5.0. My goal is to contribute to accelerating the implementation of Industry 4.0 in my country while promoting the concept of Society 5.0 from Japan.

During the weekends, I usually spend time with my family. Kyoto offers many tourist spots to explore, along with a variety of mountainous areas. Some of these are even kid-friendly for hiking.
In addition, we sometimes take short trips to other cities for a quick staycation.

For anyone considering pursuing an MBA, I highly recommend GSM as a top choice.

First of all, GSM offers a wide range of subjects tailored for those seeking an MBA. Whether your focus is on finance and valuation, negotiation and partnership, leadership and team management, business modeling and design, or strategic business planning, you can explore various areas to match your interests and needs, all in one place.

Furthermore, Japan is an excellent place to live, especially Kyoto. Each season in Japan offers unique customs to enjoy: hanami (cherry blossom viewing) in spring, watching hanabi (fireworks) and catching insects in summer, admiring the vibrant autumn leaves in autumn, and playing in the snow during winter. For those coming from tropical countries with only two seasons like me, experiencing all four seasons in Japan is a priceless experience.
