Ms. M. Shiroshima, Hiiragiya Ryokan in Kyoto, had wonderful lecture about premium Japanese hospitality in Hiiragiya Ryokan, the best Japanese traditional inn globally awarded by Michlein Guidebook, at the Case Study Seminar Room, the Graduate School of Management Area, 3rd Floor, Research Bldg. No.2, in the Graduate School of Management, Kyoto University from 10:30 am, January 22, Friday, 2016.

She is a daughter of the Current Okami-san, and work for the Ryokan. She came to our school and talked about their Ryokan, their premium hospitality, Omotenashi and what is behind it. The Hiiragiya Ryokan is the best Japanese Traditional Traverlers’ Inn in Kyoto, Japan, 3 stars awarderd by the Michlein Guidebook, Paris, France. Not only Japanese but also global travelers come to Kyoto to stay there and enjoy their hospitality. It has global top-level reputation in hospitality service. Many international students from Vietnum, Bangladesh, Philippine, Myanmar, Hong-Kong, Korea, Germany, Switzerland and so on enjoyed her talk and were enchanted by their hospitality and thoughts behind it. Especially, she stressed what is the essence of the Ryokan, Japanese travelers’ inn. She told us that okami-san, managers, and workers have high sensitivity and consideration about what customers feel and need and try to take their creative action for it before customers tells them about it.

I and our international students appreciated her goodwill and kindness to show their omotenashi to us very much. I also thank that Mr. Fazakas Barages and Ms. Noriko Kuwabara supported her talk.
