2018.6 Advance Announcement: Kyoto Cornell International Collaborative Degree Opportunity for April 2019

(Second Round) Admission: Kyoto Cornell International Collaborative Degree Opportunity

The Kyoto University Graduate School of Management and the Cornell University SC Johnson College of Business, School of Hotel Administration are currently discussing the establishment of a two-year collaborative degree opportunity, Kyoto-Cornell International Collaborative Degree Opportunity. Both universities are working toward this opportunity to take place in April 2019.

The Kyoto-Cornell International Collaborative Degree Opportunity will offer a curriculum in management and hospitality for the purpose of nurturing highly advanced global professionals. Students participating in this International Collaborative Degree Opportunity will stay at the Kyoto University Graduate School of Management for two semesters and at the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration for two semesters. Upon the completion of the degree requirements, each university will award an academic degree to the student: Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Kyoto University, and Master of Management in Hospitality (MMH) from Cornell University.

We will announce the details of this collaborative degree opportunity when both universities have officially approved it. This unofficial advance announcement about this collaborative degree opportunity is to allow interested students time to complete mandatory application requirements such as TOEFL or IELTS and GMAT or GRE testing. Those interested are encouraged to register for and complete these tests in advance. If this collaborative degree opportunity is officially approved by both universities, the admission guidelines will be posted on the Website of Graduate School of Management in October.

Application requirements (anticipated):
Resume, essays, official transcripts of academic records, a video essay, TOEFL or IELTS score (valid for two years), a GMAT or GRE score (valid for five years), financial responsibility form, etc.

English language proficiency requirement (anticipated):
Minimum TOEFL iBT score of 100. Section minimums are as follows: Speaking: 22, Reading: 20, Listening: 15, and Writing: 20. Minimum IELTS score is 7.0. This requirement may be waived if applicant meets criteria for exception.

Application eligibility will be similar to the admission for the English-taught course at Graduate School of Management. Information sessions:
The outline of this collaborative degree opportunity will be announced at information sessions for interested students at the Graduate School of Management (in July and October in Japanese). After official approval by both universities, an additional information session for this collaborative degree opportunity will be held.

Scholarship opportunities:
The Kyoto University Graduate School of Management is also preparing for new scholarships to support the students who are admitted to the Kyoto-Cornell International Collaborative Degree Opportunity.
