Associate Professor Ting Liu、Professor Tomoki Sekiguchi, and Junior Researcher Jiayin Qin’s international co-authored article ((co-authored by Yaxi Shen, Hunan University) on expatriates’ boundary-spanning has been published in the Journal of International Business Studies, one of the top-tier management journals.

The findings suggest that while boundary-spanning can foster trust and a sense of belonging and loyalty among expatriates and local employees, beneficial for the company, it can also lead to role stress. This stress can cause emotional exhaustion for expatriates and might result in them being viewed as outsiders by local employees. The study highlights that while boundary-spanning builds valuable social capital, it also poses risks that must be managed carefully.
