Overview

This endowed chair systematizes research related to management philosophy, including corporate ethics, management philosophy, global management awareness, and forms of thinking. It has also returned the results of research to education and disseminated them throughout society, but as part of the report summarizing seven years of research results, a planned symposium was held under the title of "The spread of the Japan Airlines revitalization process and management philosophy."

We invited various individuals to the symposium as panelists: Mr. Ōta Yoshihito (director and managing executive officer of Kyocera Corporation; former senior managing executive officer of Japan Airlines Co., Ltd. (JAL)), who was seconded to JAL together with Mr. Inamori Kazuo (honorary chairman of Kyocera Corporation) with the aim of revitalizing JAL, and Ms. Indō Mami (managing executive director of Daiwa Institute of Research, Ltd.), who wrote “JAL saisei: Kōshūeki kigyō e no tankan” (The revival of JAL: Transition to a high-profit company) (published by Nikkei Publishing Co., Ltd.), which was based on interviews with Mr. Kazuo Inamori and other JAL executives and employees. Their expertise enabled us to deepen our discussions on the theory of management philosophy and its implementation by examining the JAL revival process from the perspective of management philosophy.
