Procedure of Exchange Program

After your enrollment in Kyoto University, check the information about the exchange program on the GSM’s internal website and consider where to study. The application deadline is roughly a year to six months prior to the departure. Please proceed with your preparations by checking the past application guidelines and the partner school’s website before you apply. You will need to consult with your supervisor in advance and get approval for your application.
If we have any exchange students in the GSM from the partner school of your interest, you may have an opportunity to connect with them and know more about the school. Also, the administrative office is always open for your inquiry and counselling.

    Review the information on the GSM’s internal website and choose destination to study abroad. Gather information of the school of your interest and prepare your English proficiency test score.

    Apply for the selection in the GSM (approximately a year – six months prior to the dispatch)

    After your application is approved, the GSM nominates you to the partner school

    After the nomination is accepted, proceed with an official application to the partner school

    Your enrollment will be permitted by the partner school after a review

    Prepare for your travel, housing, class registration and other necessary procedures following the instructions by the partner school.

    Pre-apply for transfer credit approval in the GSM (Optional)

    Study abroad at the partner school

  9. 9

    Return to Kyoto

    Apply for final authorization for transfer credit approval in the GSM (Optional)
