The Reason Why You Chose GSM

Sayaka Watanabe

After spending 15 years in the accounting field in the United States, I realized that while hands-on experience had been invaluable, it wasn't quite enough to fully grasp the complexities of accounting and finance. I knew that to truly excel, I needed a solid grounding in theory as well. When I returned to Japan, I was fortunate to be involved in a sustainability management project at a consulting firm, where my passion for this field only deepened. These experiences sparked a new goal: to pursue an MBA. I chose GSM because it offers a specialized curriculum in accounting and sustainability management, providing the perfect blend of knowledge and practical application. More importantly, it gives me the chance to learn from Japan's top professors in a supportive and well-structured environment. I am excited to take this step and build a future where I can make a meaningful impact.

What is the attractiveness of GSM?

What truly sets GSM apart is the exceptional support and warm and attentive guidance from the professors. They go beyond simply delivering lectures—they are deeply invested in our success, offering personalized advice and encouragement that make a real difference in our academic journey. Another remarkable feature of GSM is the diversity within the student body. The wide range of ages, industries, nationalities, and career paths represented in our class creates an incredibly enriching environment. This diversity brings fresh perspectives and insights into every discussion, making the learning experience not just informative, but truly transformative.

The Visions of Your Future

Sayaka Watanabe

My current research in the workshop focuses on exploring the impact of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) on corporate performance, a critical area that examines how businesses can align profitability with societal and environmental well-being. This inquiry is central to understanding how companies can achieve harmony with society while also sustaining economic growth. “How can companies be in harmony with society and the environment while simultaneously generating profits?” After completing the MBA program, I plan to pursue a PhD to delve deeper into this topic. Through my research, I hope to keep searching for an answer to this question and contribute to the broader goal of realizing a sustainable future, where business success and social responsibility go hand in hand.
