Project Operations Management Program: M2 2023-

The Reason Why You Chose GSM

Masanori Fukuhara

My experience of the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake drove me to research social infrastructure. I want to contribute to the creation of prosperous societies in countries around the world with Japan's social infrastructure technology. With that desire in mind, after graduating from graduate school, I joined a general electric company that researches advanced technologies such as information and communications, energy, railways, and medicine, and worked as an engineer in research and development and management strategy. In 2011, after experiencing the Great East Japan Earthquake and its recovery, I started a management consulting company that solves social infrastructure issues.
I have always been looking for new challenges in the 13 years since I started my business, but I chose GSM because I wanted to deepen my research at Kyoto University, which is at the world's top level in the fields of social infrastructure management strategy, operations management, and new business development.

What is the attractiveness of GSM?

The appeal of GSM is threefold. First, you can receive the latest guidance on business strategy, operations management, and new business development from excellent professors with specialized knowledge and experience in various fields such as social infrastructure, tourism, and services. Second, you can take science and engineering subjects other than business administration, such as AI, machine learning, and semiconductors, and take classes that combine knowledge of the humanities and sciences. Third, you can gain new perspectives and ideas by discussing with working students who are active in different industries.
By not being bound by stereotypes and steadily implementing what I learned in classes and group work in the business field, I was able to gain successful management experience, such as creating new businesses and creating new customers.
