The Reason Why You Chose GSM

Yoshinori Nakagawa

I have been working in the intellectual property department of a major electronics manufacturer, handling global patent disputes. Experiencing fierce competition with overseas companies made me acutely aware of Japanese businesses' challenges in fostering innovation. This realization sparked my desire to address these challenges and contribute to society. As I continued to reflect on what I could do, I realized the importance of deepening my knowledge of management and acquiring the wisdom to tackle complex, open-ended questions. This led me to pursue further studies at GSM.
Kyoto University, with its spirit of academic freedom, innovation, and challenge, offered the broad and deep learning environment I sought. I was convinced it was the ideal place for my growth. Additionally, GSM's mission of integrating knowledge across disciplines aligned perfectly with my goal of personal and professional development, making it the perfect choice for me.

What is the attractiveness of GSM?

The allure of GSM lies in its ability to offer both broad experiences and deep knowledge. At GSM, students can acquire not only fundamental management knowledge but also gain multifaceted perspectives through a diverse range of seminars, industry-academia collaboration courses, and even lectures from other faculties. Additionally, some students participate in the incubation program, "Phoenixi." I could cultivate an entrepreneurial spirit through interaction with like-minded peers.
Furthermore, GSM incorporates elements of art and DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) into its curriculum. One particularly memorable session involved students acting out stories, providing a unique opportunity to discover new aspects of myself. This rich environment fosters deep connections with peers, resulting in invaluable experiences that are truly unique to GSM.

The Visions of Your Future

Additionally, I am committed to contributing to society, never forgetting the initial aspiration to be a socially responsible individual. I will continue to pursue academic research and explore lifelong growth, striving to be a person who evolves continuously throughout my life.

Since I have nearly completed my credits, I mainly work during the day and focus on my workshop research after work. The workshop has seminars once or twice a month where we report on our research progress. I also took a few courses from other faculties.
