First presentation: 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Takashi Hikino (Specially-appointed Professor, Mizuho Securities Endowment, Graduate School of Management, Kyoto University)
“’Common Resources’: A Key Endowment for Competitive Advantages”

The economics concept of “common resources” has been introduced into the economics classroom mostly in the context “public goods,” while it has been usually ignored in the management schools. This presentation aims to rescue “common resources” as that category will clarify the importance of technological knowhow and brand equity, both of which can be regarded as belonging to that category, in competitive markets and thus present a coherent analytical framework and practical investment program for the long-term growth of corporate enterprises.
