経営管理大学院では、多くの学生に支持され、質の高い授業を提供してきた優秀な教員を表彰するため、「京都大学経営管理大学院ベストティーチャー賞」制度を創設しました。 第2回目となる2010年度ベストティーチャー賞に、野沢 誠治 特別准教授とWilliam Baber 特定准教授が選ばれました。

この度、「ペストティーチャ一賞」に選ばれたこと、大変名誉なことであり光栄に思っています。私が教える調査や分析は、ビジネスでは意思決定の指針や課題解決のために使われますが、それを効果的に実施するためには、正しく調査や分析が行える知識(理論や考え方)とそれに基づき実際に調査や分析が行えるスキルが必要なのは当黙のことですが、それ以上に重要なことが、適切な課題を設定す ることと調査や分析結果に基づいてその課題に対する有効な解決策や意思決定のための指針を導きだすことにあります。スキル習得のための毎回の課題提出に加えて、データ分析を伴ったケースを用いて皆と解決策や意思決定について識論できたのは私も新しい発見がありましたし、皆にも多〈の学びがあったものと思っ ています。授業全体を通じて、数字では割り切れないビジネスの難しさと、 変化が散し〈過去の経験だけでは判断できないビジネス世界にあって論理的に考え答えを導く科学的アプローチの重要性や有益性を伝えられていれば幸いです。 今後は、この栄誉に恥じぬよう、また学生の皆さんに卒業してあの授業で学んだことはとても役に立っていると言ってもらえるよう、一層の努力をしていきたいと思っています。最後に、私の授業を評価していただいた学生の皆さんに心から感謝いたします。

It is kind of the students to have chosen me for the Best Teacher Award -thank you!  Students in my classes have contributed a lot of ideas and work to make the process interesting so you deserve to share the award. The students worked through a lot of examples and information from the real world to make our classes come alive. Our criteria for class work always included: －Real world connections; －Real behavior of decision makers; －Real analysls. We all found that the most important part of communication in negotiation and in management is responding deeply to the other participants. Being accurate in grammar and speaking and writing is of secondary importance. In the end, without intelligent input from students, there is no progress. Your efforts made it all enjoyable and productive!
