Business Valuation Education Program

Overview

In recent years, with the increased application of IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) and the increase in domestic and international mergers and acquisitions, there has been a growing demand for professionals capable of calculating business values rationally and objectively. In Japan, although there are opportunities to take business valuation courses for securities analysis leading to investment advice, opportunities to learn business valuation useful for corporate disclosure and management strategy planning are currently limited to specific training programs.
Therefore, along with the growing need for business valuation, there is also an increasing social need for a system that enables many people to acquire the know-how to carry out practical business valuation and demonstrate their proficiency. Considering this situation, this certificate program aims to provide a wide range of opportunities to systematically and professionally learn the methods and practices of business valuation necessary to acquire internationally recognized qualifications and to develop internationally competent human resources.

【Program Contents】
The program offers a curriculum based on an integrated arts and scientific approach to develop a broad range of management know-how and insight, including technology, finance and organization. The main materials used in this program are what the American Society of Appraisers (ASA) delivers internationally in its qualification certification program for business valuation, based on the education standards for qualification advocated by the Appraisal Foundation and the International Valuation Standards Council (IVSC). Those materials are provided in Japanese for this program in collaboration with the Japanese Society of Independent Appraisers (JaSIA). Upon successful completion of the final exam by ASA, the applicant may apply for the ASA final certification (business valuation) in accordance with ASA's rules and regulations. In the initial stage, the program will focus on U.S. cases as it uses U.S. educational materials. However, as the development of the educational materials progresses, contents reflecting Japanese cases will be added as appropriate.
