Overview
Administrative agency and private businesses engaged in regional and urban development, natural disaster recovery project are constantly under pressure to make decisions and put into action in order to respond appropriately to the outbreak of unforeseen events, changes in the situation, and uncertain information within a limited time frame while coordinating with many stakeholders when carrying out these highly unique projects.
Traditionally, such management skills have been passed down from veterans to younger engineers through OJT, but this has become difficult to pass on due to generation gaps and the retirement of veteran engineers. Furthermore, in recent years, the situation has become one in which management skills are more important than ever, with an increase in unskilled engineers, including foreign engineers, and responses to work style reforms.
Research on such management evaluation methods has been accumulating in related academic societies, but considering the large number of people involved in regional and urban development and the recovery and reconstruction process following natural disasters, and the rapid decline in the number of skilled engineers among them, it is an urgent task to develop management skills in the real world using management evaluation models such as the case method, business model canvas, and logic model.
In this endowed course, in cooperation with related academic societies, we will conduct the following research and strive to popularize management evaluation methods as an effort to develop and improve project management skills in the workplaces of government officials and private businesses.
・Research on project management evaluation schemes
・Research on teaching methods and instructor training for the case method
・Research on measuring the effectiveness of project management efficiency
・Dissemination of project management evaluation methods and methods for their maintenance and development
